Basic research to further optimize the light scattering (polarization) of fiber Bragg gratings
R&D
The group companies invest a lot of effort into the further development of the technology portfolio.
Currently, research projects are being pursued in the following areas:
Use of fiber Bragg sensors in medical endoscopy, in particular for improved determination of tactile pressures and endoscope tip positions
Development of cost-effective, chip-based evaluation units for fiber optic sensors
Development of acoustic sensors based on fiber Bragg grating sensors for, among other things, the oil and gas industry for use in deep sea conveyance applications
Further promising R & D fields are the development of radiation-resistant, fiber optic sensor solutions for monitoring nuclear power plants and radioactive waste. The latter challenge is becoming increasingly important, since the problem of the decades-long disposal of radioactive waste has not been resolved to this day.
